Basil, a Welsh Section D Stallion

Since 1989, our sanctuary has been a safe haven for horses and animals from all walks of life. Whether they come from difficult circumstances, retiring from careers in entertainment, or simply needing a loving forever home, we have dedicated ourselves to providing them with the care, compassion, and security they deserve. We are delighted to introduce you to our newest resident, Basil, a horse with a truly remarkable story.

Basil is a striking 14hh Welsh Section D stallion with an impressive legacy. Known by his passport name, Platinum Pink Panther, he has spent his life captivating audiences in theatres, pantomimes, and even on television. One of his most notable appearances was in the 2011 TV series *Young James Herriot*, where he showcased his calm and charismatic nature on screen.

Basil’s extraordinary journey took him to the circus in 2006, where he truly shined. Performing a stunning liberty routine, he mesmerized crowds with his intelligence, grace, and natural flair for the spotlight. His talent and presence have left a lasting impression on everyone who has had the pleasure of watching him.

Beyond his performance career, Basil is also a proud father. He has sired six daughters and one son, all of whom share his distinctive colour and markings, a testament to his strong and beautiful lineage.

Now, after three incredible decades of adventure, Basil is enjoying a well-earned retirement at the Heavy Horse Centre, where he spends his golden years in comfort and peace. He continues to charm visitors with his gentle nature, serving as a wonderful ambassador for the incredible journeys that many of our rescued animals have taken before finding their forever home with us.

Basil’s story is just one of many at our sanctuary, highlighting the resilience, talent, and beauty of the animals we care for. We are proud to give them the retirement and love they deserve after lives of hard work and dedication.
