Free Admission at the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre! The Northcote Heavy Horse Centre is a visitor attraction and animal sanctuary providing a permanent home for horses and ponies that have nowhere else to go, through behavioural problems, abuse or neglect. Northcotes has provided a home for horses for over 21 years. The Centre is run entirely by volunteers and funded by visitor income, through events, donations and sales from our Christmas catalogue to name a few. This is vital for our survival in caring for the horses and ponies. In August 2010 the centre became a registered charity something we are very proud about and we hope that through your visit to meet our horses we can continue in the work that we do.

Admission: 2012 will be our 4th year of asking people to kindly give a donation for their visit, it costs in excess of £150 every day to care for the horses here. The centre is funded entirely by visitor donations, adoptions, and fundraising to name a few. Your donation means we can carry on our work here, looking after these noble friends. We have never needed your support more than we have now. *Admission charges apply to special events. (See our opening times page for all our dates)

Groups and school visits welcome any time of year. please contact us for more details.

Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash and may not be permitted in certain areas.

On Your Visit
  Dray Rides
  Thursdays in August
Every year hundreds of people of all ages and abilities benefit from a visit to the Northcote Horses. We offer “hands on” days with our horses , which means on selected days you can help groom the horses and ponies, lead a horse, and help harness a horse ready for the afternoon dray rides, these are some of the things that you the visitor can help with. 2011 will see the centre opening on more days, but some of these extra days are NOT “hands on” days, But you can view the horses in or lovely surroundings and watch as we exercise /train the horses ourselves, tea-room and gift shop will be open as normal.

Heavy Horse Dray rides are available most working days provided driver and horses are ‘fighting fit’. Rides begin after lunch. This is the most popular part of our programme and can be over-subscribed at any time of the season! Tickets: Adult & Senior £2.50
Child (primary school age and below) £1.50

Thursdays in August are training days for the Lincolnshire equestrian vaulting team, Vaulting is gymnastics on horseback. So why not come and meet the horses maybe give them a groom and then sit back and watch the team train at their unique sport. Hens Nest tea room will be open.
